FAQ
The Cors-Air M air cooled engines are very successfully used by many companies in Europe, Japan, Russia USA, Australia, Britain, South Africa and other countries.
More and more manufacturers are interested in this new product which has proved to be one of the best solutions for a powerful, reliable, low maintenance and safe Powered Paraglider or Microlight Aircraft.
The features of the Cors-Air are unique:
1) Reliability: it starts every time, hot or cold with a minimum of 60 RPM; it idles smoothly at even 1,600 RPM!; it is a very low maintenance engine
2) Due to the reed valve system it does not flood in normal conditions and uses less fuel than the other "traditional" two stroke engines used in PPG.
3) Unlike in other engines, there are six cylinder transfer ports symmetrically placed in the cylinder wall to ensure a much better combustion, increased power and better cooling while other brands of PPG two stroke engines have only TWO ports.
4)The Cors-Air M25Y is so reliable that it is guaranteed to start at the first attempt, regardless of engine or ambient temperature.
5) It has a ready built-in powerful electronic ignition system and electronic spark advance to ensure a very smooth running in the whole RPM range thus generating much less detrimental vibrations for the cage or engine frame and pilot.
6) It has a unique, self-pressurized fuel system that eliminates fuel starvation caused by air pockets in the fuel line or even a weakened fuel pump membrane.( This feature is available only on the AIRFER Paramotor models)
7) The engine (electric startversion) is equipped with a small generator which charges the sealed lead-acid battery in flight; this type of battery is much safer and longer lasting than the NiCad, which can cause an in-flight fire in some cases. This generator can supply on-board power for accessories like: radio, GPS, cameras, strobes or other devices.
8) The engine was designed to run at 11,500 RPM but in any reduction drive configuration it does not exceed 7,600-7,900 RPM.
In other words, the engine' power is trimmed down and delivers LESS power than it could.
This fact ensures a huge safety margin, compared to other engines which are mostly over-revved, in order to increase the power output.
9) Due to the special silver plated bearings,Copper plated connecting rod, Cermetal (Nicasil) protective cylinder coating and Chrome plated "beveled" piston rings, the engine has a very long TBO (time before overhaul) well over 500 hours compared to the usual 250 hours that most engines have (according to their specs)
10) The special honing grooves on the cylinder wall ensure less friction and better lubrication which prevent the engine from seizures.
11) The Walbro WB 37 C carburetor has proved to be very efficient in this engine configuration and unlike on other engines, it is not as sensitive to tuning.
12) The engine is suspended by five rubber mounts (Corsa-Air M21Y) or four oversized engine mounts (The Black Devil) that efficiently absorb the vibration, torque effect and "P" factor much better than other existing engines which usually have only three or four rubber mounts.
